We began the day at the serene Japanese Garden at Terrace Park. Nestled in the heart of Sioux Falls, the Japanese Garden provided a peaceful and romantic backdrop for portraits. The soft greenery, curved bridges, and quiet water features created the most timeless setting for their first look and couple’s portraits. Choosing an outdoor location like this for wedding photos adds depth and variety to your gallery, especially when paired with an urban reception venue downtown.

One of my favorite parts of being a Sioux Falls wedding photographer is helping couples build a timeline that allows space to breathe. Because their wedding was intentionally small, we were able to slow down, soak in each moment, and document the day as it naturally unfolded. The laughter during toasts, the emotional vows, and the gentle hand squeezes didn’t feel rushed, they felt real.

We ended the evening with sunset portraits just outside The Mosaic in downtown Sioux Falls. As the light softened and reflected off the city streets, it created the most romantic golden glow. Downtown Sioux Falls offers beautiful urban textures like brick, architecture, and open sky. That photograph beautifully at sunset.
