There is something so good about a late-summer senior session. The warm golden light, everything still green and blooming, and that effortless end of summer feeling. Ashtyn’s senior pictures at the end of July had all of it. We spent the evening exploring two beautiful Sioux Falls locations: Arrowhead Park and the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum.
Ashtyn brought several outfits along, which gave us so much variety throughout her gallery. From a simple blue and white look to her black dress and the prettiest pale yellow lace dress, each outfit felt completely different while still fitting beautifully with the natural scenery.
Arrowhead Park is such a fun location for senior pictures because it gives us that natural South Dakota look without every photo feeling exactly the same. The tall grasses, open fields, trails and greenery created the perfect backdrop for Ashtyn’s summer outfits.
One of my favorite things about photographing seniors is creating portraits that feel natural rather than overly posed. We incorporated movement, sitting poses, close-up portraits and plenty of those in-between moments that let Ashtyn’s personality come through.
And that late-July golden light? So, so good.

For the second part of Ashtyn’s senior session, we headed to the Mary Jo Wegner Arboretum. If you’re looking for a Sioux Falls senior photo location with tons of variety, the Arboretum is one of my favorites.
At the end of July, everything was lush and full of color. The wildflowers and gardens made the most beautiful backdrop, especially with Ashtyn’s white lace dress. Between the flowers, tall grasses, fences, pathways and glowing evening light, we were able to create so many different looks without needing to travel far.
I especially love how the more dressed-up outfits looked against the wild, natural setting. It gave her senior photos a romantic, timeless feel while still feeling relaxed and like her.

If you’re planning your own senior session, Ashtyn’s gallery is the perfect example of why I recommend bringing multiple outfits. Changing from something casual into a dressier look can completely transform your photos, especially when we pair each outfit with a different part of the location.
Your senior pictures don’t have to feel stiff or overly posed, either. My goal is to give you direction throughout your session while creating a gallery that feels fun, natural and true to you.
Summer senior sessions in Sioux Falls are especially beautiful if you love tall grass, wildflowers, greenery and golden-hour light. Late July gave us the dreamiest combination for Ashtyn’s session.

Senior year deserves to be documented in a way that feels like you. Whether you’re envisioning wildflowers and flowing dresses, a casual outfit in the tall grass, or a little bit of everything, we can build your senior session around your style.
If you’re searching for a Sioux Falls senior photographer or looking for senior picture locations in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, I’d love to help you create a session that feels relaxed, personal and completely your own.
